~ From Childhood, to Parenthood and Everything in Between ~

Essence received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from St. John’s University and a Masters degree in Social Work from Fordham University.

Since earning her Masters degree, she has worked with those experiencing depression, anxiety, and trauma as well as those with more severe mental illness such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. She has experience working with the formerly incarcerated and those experiencing grief as the result of a medical diagnosis. Throughout her career she has worked in a medical setting, a clinic setting and a private practice setting, exposing her to various different clientele and forcing her to find new ways to meet their needs.

Currently she works full time as an elementary school social worker. As she progresses through her career finds herself consistently grounded in the desire to grow and give back to the Black community through both education and self reflection and healing. Her approach to therapy is guided by her clients' needs, personalities and personal goals. She likes to think of therapy as the ultimate road trip in which her clients lead the way; and with the right passenger or therapist it can be a really amazing journey.

Essence hopes to empower those who are not yet comfortable taking the wheel in a sensitive and non-judgmental way. Her goal is to equip her clients with the skills they need to succeed mentally and emotionally well beyond their time in therapy.
